Short Term Mission Team 2005

We spent the morning serving at Manila City Jail.  Jim Christopher and Larry LaCom each gave their testimonies, and Pastor Mark Schweitzer gave the message.  There must have been 300 prisoners gathered in the area where we did the service.  The prisoners sang some worship songs in Tagalog; How neat it was to hear them singing from their hearts.  Patrick also taught them some new worship songs and they all sang along as well.

The inmates in the dorms we were in all seemed to be a member of the Sputnick gang . . . the largest gang in Manila with more than 1,000 members. Pastor Noel Alberto (who lead us into the prison) was a former member of this gang as well.  He serves at this prison regularly . . . holding worship services and preaching the gospel every week.  Some of the men he has ministered to have not only made Christ their Lord, but have dedicated their time to reading His word.  One inmate accepted Christ in 2002, and since then has read the bible 9 TIMES from Genesis to Revelation!

In the afternoon we performed an evangelistic  concert at Eusebio High School.  Several hundred students stayed for a while to hear some worship songs. Pastor Bruce shared the message.
